Science Lapbook: Outer Space

This was our last science lapbook, and I let Isaac design some of his own booklets, some with blank templates from Homeschool Share and some made totally from scratch (the sun, individual planets, stars booklet, and one of the rockets).  We did also use several outer space booklets I found on Homeschool Share, Homeschool Helper Online, and Lapbook Lessons.  The one on comets is here. I’m really having a lot of trouble finding the planet fact cards and the Space Travel booklet—I don’t know where on the web I found them!  I ought to write down sources as soon as I use them!  If you know where they are, please let me know.  If I ever find them, I will add the links!

As always, I had Isaac design his own cover:

The spacesuit craft (the astronaut with Isaac’s face) came from DLTK.

Science Lapbook: Water

We did a lapbook for each science unit.  This one was on water.  We got most of our lapbook templates for this unit from Homeschool Helper Online.  A few came from an Atlantic unit from Homeschool Share and the iceberg booklet also came from a unit at Homeschool Share. Isaac designed the cover by himself, including the title, with the water pouring out of the “r” faucet!

The Rest of 3rd Grade Science

It’s been quite awhile since I posted any of Isaac’s science activities from this past year.  In fact, I think I only posted once!  Oh, and I posted one science lapbook.  We used the book Christian Kids Explore Earth and Space.  You can read previous blog posts about his science HERE and HERE.  Wow, I thought I did more than that!  Well, this post will describe (briefly) what he did the rest of the year until school was out.  However, I probably will post his science lapbooks separately.

2.  I believe this one had something to do with glaciers.  We made an incline and raced clean frozen ice with frozen ice/dirt/sand/etc.  It was back in January, and our science book is in England (I’m in the US), so if I’m not right, I’ll correct it when we get back!

3.  Ummmm, honestly…I don’t remember what this was!  It was an instrument of some sort…

4.  Our atmosphere chart.  Isaac attached the labels and pictures to show what each level was and what you might find there…

5.  Making a cloud:

6.  Our rain gauge:

That’s all for now!  I need to check when I get back to England to see if I got everything!

Field Trip Chronicles: London Science Museum

Recently we had to make a trip to London to renew Isaac and Moriah's passports at the embassy. While there, we decided to go spend a few hours at the Science Museum. It's a huge museum, so we only saw a tiny bit of it. Since we were short on time, I decided to find the hands-on sections and just let the kids have fun. We'd love to go back someday! Just a note...pics of Gabriela at the science museum will be on her Tot School page!

That's the original Stephenson's Rocket, by the way.
