Gabriela's Kindergarten Reading Log

Since my youngest child has now completed Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons, she's ready for her own reading log, just like her brother and sister! She's so excited about being able to read real books now, and I'm so happy that she really loves reading. This will be an running list of books she reads during the remainder of the school year. I will add to the list as she reads books. This is mostly for my own records, but if you're interested in what books we use after Teach Your Child, you might like checking back to see what we've added.

Kindergarten Curriculum

It’s hard to believe my baby will be in Kindergarten next school year.  I’ve so enjoyed doing Tot School and preschool activities with her.  Now we will start our kindergarten program, the same program I used with my older 2. 

For kindergarten, I use Heart of Dakota’s Little Hearts for His Glory.  Gabriela has already been using workboxes, so I’ll list her curriculum by box number.  Unless noted otherwise, everything on this list is part of the Little Hearts program that we will be following.  I’m so looking forward to using this program once again!

Box 1:  History

I covered this earlier on a field trip post, but we went to Holland over the New Year. Moriah got to see windmills, visit the Corrie ten Boom house, light sparklers and eat oliebollen on New Year's Eve, and go ice skating (which she did enjoy after she got used to it!). Her favorite thing about Holland, however, was playing with her Dutch friend Raphaela!

Kindergarten Moments

It seems like ages since I've posted anything! Christmastime was extremely busy, and then we went to Holland for a week over the New Year, so I've not had much time. It's been even longer since I've posted anything other than Tot School, so here's a post about what Moriah (my kindergartener) has been doing lately...well, before Christmas!

You can't see it very well, but we made a chart telling how many mugs of water fit into different size teapots.


15. An experiment putting food coloring into icy water and then into warm water...I can't remember the point exactly...but I don't remember it doing anything special. At any rate, she enjoyed it!

17. Measuring oatmeal with a tablespoon and then with a teaspoon and comparing the amounts using interlocking cubes
