We are loving earth science! My dad is a geologist, so I think it comes natural. We are using the book
Christian Kids Explore Earth & Space by Stephanie L. Redmond. So far we've covered plate tectonics, caves, earthquakes, and volcanoes. Currently we're working on rocks & minerals (which is my dad's area of expertise... how I wish we could be back home in Missouri studying all this so my dad could help!). One thing the book recommends is studying the vocabulary. I wanted to stay away from having to copy words and definitions. Isaac already has more writing in school than he cares for, and I don't want to overload him! So we came up with an alternative. We do look up the words and read their meanings, but instead of writing them, we find pictures on the internet to glue next to each word.
I know this may look gross, but it's only sand! This is our stalagmite experiment. We simply watered down sand until it was at the consistency we wanted, and then Isaac slowly poured it into the sink, and we got our own version of stalagmites forming!

Hopefully we can share more about our earth science studies as we go on!
