Blog Award

I was very happy to receive an award from Phyllis at All Things Beautiful, one of my favorite blogs.  I have visited “award-free” blogs before, so I know that not every blogger accepts awards—perhaps for various reasons.  However, I have a good opinion of blog awards.  It’s not that I crave awards and make a big deal out of them as if I’m someone special.  I view giving an award as a friendly gesture from one blogger to another in order to show appreciation and to point your followers to a blog they may not have read before.  It’s an act of bloggy kindness, and I appreciate it as such.

I received the Liebster Award.  If you are wondering what a Liebster Award is, read THIS post about the one I received last year.

As a part of receiving this award, I am posting a collection of favorite photos I have taken.  I am to tell why they are favorites—what they say about me and what I value.

So, here they are:

059

I love, love, love children’s books and reading to my kids.  I love this photo of my husband reading to our youngest.  We value time together as a family, and we value books.

One thing I love about living in England is all the amazing places we get to visit, such as Scotney Castle, pictured above left.  I value the opportunities we have here.

When we visit the US, we enjoy taking our kids to Silver Dollar City, our favorite amusement park in Branson.  As this day was particularly hot, I loved the expression of pure delight on my daughter’s face as she got drenched by water spray.  I love Silver Dollar City.  I love hot weather (when you have the means to drench yourself), and I love my daughter.

This picture (above, left) makes me exceedingly homesick--seeing a huge bowl of garden-fresh tomatoes and a US flag on a big front porch is enough to make me long to be home.  Yeah, so this picture contains 4 things I value highly:  my husband, the US flag, a large front porch, and ripe tomatoes.  And the fact that my husband is wearing a shirt with a British flag reminds me of how torn I am between two places I love.

In the second picture (above, right), my girls are wearing dresses that my mom hand-sewed for my younger sister and me sometime in the late 70s.  I value my childhood memories, the dresses my mother sewed for us, my sister, and my own girls.

This Scripture is posted at the Grand Canyon.  I value the Bible, the Word of God, and my relationship with the Lord.  I appreciate the fact that this sign remains at a national park in an age when it seems that fewer people value the importance of honoring God in our nation.

448

I value God’s creation and the fact that my husband lifted his hands in worship to God when we visited the Grand Canyon.  I so respect him!

 676

I value pieces of history, even ruins.  I enjoy taking pictures of architecture.  I like taking pictures of things from different angles.  I value blue sky.  (Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire)

 107

My three most-prized possessions.  I love these kiddos and thank God for them daily!

271

I value new seasons and growth, gardens and blooms, and the magnificence and delicate beauty of Creation.  Oh, and purple is a nice color (it reminds me of my grandma).

273

I value other cultures and what they have given the world, and I value the opportunities we have to travel as a family (Gouda, Netherlands).

103

This is one of my top favorite spots in England, and the weather that day was absolutely perfect.  Lovely weather is highly valued in England, trust me.  (Watendlath, Cumbria)

That’s it!  I hope you’ve enjoyed my photo collection.  I take thousands of pictures because I’m cool like that a photography nut, so I barely scratched the surface of what I could have posted here.

Blog award “requirements” can take up time, but they can also be fun. While I don’t mind doing the requirements (it’s all part of the fun), I don’t like making any. So…for those of you I’m passing this award on to, you are required to do NOTHING to receive this award! If you would like to do what I did for my award (the photos), I surely would enjoy seeing what you post. If you would like to pass this award along, it would be a very nice thing to do. But the award is free…if you want it.  It’s my way of saying, “You have a really cool blog.  People should check it out!”

I’m passing the Liebster Award on to the following blogs:

Liebster Blog Award

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen blog awards going around, so I was pleasantly surprised to receive this one from SarahElisabeth at Delivering Grace, a home education blog in England.

liebster

The word “Liebster” apparently means “dearest” or “sweetheart” in German.  This award was designed for blogs with fewer than 200 followers, as a means of encouraging and supporting them and also a way of pointing others their way.

I’ve chosen 3 of my favorite blogs to pass this award on to.

The first is Time for Play.  This blog is FULL of really cool ideas for children’s play activities and crafts.

The second is The Preschool Experiment.  I have a preschooler, and this blog has a lot of great ideas for the 3-5 year old range.

The third is Tirzah’s Delights.  I like this one because she is a homeschooled teenager, and her blog is a pleasure to read.  She has recipes, book reviews, and general posts about her family and her interests.

Please take a few moments and check out these fantastic blogs!

Happy 101 Award

Photobucket

I'm so pleased to receive my 2nd award! Thanks to Our Country Road for giving this to me! For this award, I'm to list 10 things that make me happy. It will be hard to list just 10!!!

1. My 3 babies...the happiness that began the moment each of them was born has only grown as they grow!
2. My husband--10 years of marriage, and I'm still happy. He makes me laugh, and he likes to cook and clean, so I feel pretty blessed! LOL!
3. Visiting the Lake District in England...as soon as we're there, happiness floods through me--every time!
4. Having a BBQ with family in Missouri...added bonus is fresh garden tomatoes and cold sweet tea!
5. Sitting in a porch swing in the summer (in the US), listening to the crickets and watching the fireflies...bonus if there's a purring cat on my lap!
6. Listening to Christmas music
7. Going to yard sales, charity shops, and used bookstores...with money, of course
8. Summer days in America (I miss America)--swimming in my sister's pool, smell of fresh cut grass, rain on a hot day, 4th of July fireworks...I could go on and on!
9. Eating a big bowlful of buttery popcorn while watching Andy Griffith reruns
10. Being in God's presence and knowing He loves me

I'm choosing FIVE more bloggers to pass this award on to. I think you're supposed to choose 10, and while I love WAY more than 10 blogs, it's very time consuming to find, link, and notify that many. Trust me, I wish I had the time to award 50 blogs! If you have already received this award, just know that I'm choosing you because I enjoy your blog! You don't have to meet the requirements in order to receive it, though of course I enjoy reading other people's lists!

Here are my winners:

Wilson Ramblings
Fun Frugal Mommy
Eager Little Mind
The Fifth Street Academy

Lemonade Stand Award

Wow, I received my very first award! A huge THANKS and HUGS to Mari-Ann at Counting Coconuts for giving me the Lemonade Stand Award. Counting Coconuts is one of my very favorite blogs, so that makes it even better! I’ve only been blogging since July, and I have only a few followers, so it’s wonderful to know someone likes my blog. The Lemonade Stand Award is awarded for being a blogger who shows great attitude and gratitude.

I’m supposed to choose 10 blogs to pass this award on to, and this is not easy—I love so many! However, here are 10 blogs that really inspire me and I’m sure show great attitude and gratitude! I know some of these blogs have received this award already. If this is you, I’m nominating you for this award simply to let you know how much I enjoy your blog.
