(He was really getting into the dancing…lol!)

Week 2

Monday: Oxfam website (Spain), Spanish games (Culture Quest World Tour website), Imperial Splendours video (The Alhambra).

Tuesday: First Fun With Spanish DVD, practiced speaking and writing in Spanish.  Read Isabel Saves the Prince:  Based on a True Story of Isabel I of Spain.

Wednesday: Spanish art—Picasso focus: Picasso faces art project, Mr. Picasso Head website, Youtube video collage of Picasso.  Read Picasso and the Girl with a Ponytail.

Let me just say here that Isaac LOVED doing the Picasso faces project and also the Mr. Picasso Head site where you can create your own online Picasso art (and print it out if you like).  Out of all the artists we’ve studied and done art projects with, this has been the only one he’s really enjoyed!  Thanks to Jolanthe at Homeschool Creations for recommending these!

Thursday: Learned about Bullfighting/Bull Running, Youtube videos, read The Story of Ferdinand, DLTK bull craft.  Discussed other Spanish artists; read Dali and the Path of Dreams and Katie and the Spanish Princess.

Friday: Learned about Spanish food (though we didn’t make any) and Spanish costume, watched The Story of Ferdinand on youtube, read the Spanish tale from Around the World in 80 Tales.

P.S.  Some of the books I ordered for this unit were late, so I’ve inserted them into the above schedule where I would have read them if I’d had them at the time.  Isaac still enjoyed the books later!
