
We spent THREE weeks on Mexico—too much fun!
Week 1
Monday: Stamped passport with flag sticker, located Mexico on world map and globe, located capital, bordering countries and water bodies, looked up Mexico in atlases, Kids Konnect website on Mexico, listened to Mexico Song.
Tuesday: Map pages (from Enchanted Learning and Bold Believers in Chiapas, Mexico), Geography from A to Z: peninsula, isthmus, mountains, volcanoes, plateau, valleys, gulf, canyon, desert; National Geographic for Kids Mexico website, listened to Mexico Song.
Wednesday: Notebook page (printable from Homeschool Creations), Time for Kids website, other websites (listed at end of post), listened to Mexico Song.
Thursday: Flag page (from Activity Village), Children Just Like Me book and page (printable from Homeschool Creations), Government & Religion, currency, listened to Mexico Song.
Friday: Animals of Mexico: Jaguar art project, watched video clip on monarch butterflies (from The Wonders of God’s Creation: Animal Kingdom), monarch butterfly website, read The Little Red Ant and the Great Big Crumb: A Mexican Fable.
Week 2
Monday: Read from Bold Believers in Chiapas, Travel for Kids website, made a travel brochure (Time for Kids).
Tuesday: Read from Bold Believers, read Adelita: A Mexican Cinderella Story, discussed Spanish language, Just Look ‘n Learn Spanish, read Say Hola to Spanish, Say Hola to Spanish at the Circus, and Say Hola to Spanish, Otra Ves.
Wednesday: Read from Bold Believers, did banner craft from Bold Believers, page 49, read Look What Came From Mexico.
Thursday: Learned about Mexican music and dance, Mariachi bands, Mexican Hat Dance, maracas, Mexican Kids’ Songs (Mama Lisa’s World), read from Bold Believers.
Friday: Read Bold Believers stories, read Mexican tale from Around the World in 80 Tales, read library books on Mexico: Country Topics: Mexico, A Visit to Mexico.
Week 3
Monday: Finished up projects, read from Bold Believers.
Tuesday: Studied volcanoes and deserts, read Hill of Fire, read Deserts (Gail Gibbons) YouTube video on Paricutin.
Wednesday: Focused on clothing: made a sombrero and poncho, Mexican paper dolls (I can’t seem to find a photo of this!)
Thursday: Worked on Mexico lapbook, looked at other websites.
Friday: Worked on Mexico lapbook, and had Mexican food.
