I’m never good at staying caught up with this on a weekly basis! But here we are, 8 weeks down and only week 1 posted. Here’s a look at weeks 2-5 of some of the things my sweet preschooler has done so far. (I didn’t take photos of every single activity, so we probably did a lot more than what I’ve pictured here.) I’ll try to get weeks 6-8 posted next, and hopefully I can improve at my blogging!

Alphabet Activities
Letter B:
Painting over letter B with water
The B is for Bee idea came from Homeschool Creations.
Letter C:
We used some activities from the Letter of the Week curriculum from Confessions of a Homeschooler, including some C is for Caterpillar activities (the number order caterpillar and a lacing caterpillar C which is not pictured) and also The Hungry Little Caterpillar activities. The C is for Cat printable and the pattern blocks C came from Making Learning Fun. We also did a bingo dauber C.
Letter C Crab (Homeschool Creations):
Letters D and E:
Letter D Dinosaur and Letter E Elephant (both from Homeschool Creations):
The straw pieces in play dough idea came from Kids Activities Blog. We also did some E pages from Making Learning Fun and Daily Coloring Pages.
Story Time
For a list of books we’ve read to Gabriela so far, see THIS post (which is being added to weekly). We’ve read books relating to numbers 1-4, letters A-E, colors red, blue, yellow, green, and brown, family, safety, autumn, bears, elephants, and probably more I can’t think of right now! Both Daddy and Isaac have helped often by reading to Gabriela.
Before Five in a Row
Weeks 2-5, we read Blueberries for Sal, Yellow Ball, The Big Green Pocketbook, and Play With Me.
Blueberries for Sal—I love this book! I never had it as a child, but I distinctly remember my mom checking it out from the library during a time we were living with my grandparents between moves in the mid-70s (technically, my mom was homeschooling me during that time, though we would not have called it that). Anyway, Gabriela and I did lots of activities from the book, but Gabriela’s favorite activity was saying “ka-plink, ka-plank, ka-plunk” as she dropped real blueberries into a little pail.
Yellow Ball—It’s a very simple activity, but Gabriela actually loved using construction paper to recreate the book cover. I cut out the pieces, but she glued them on.
Gabriela also enjoyed the other 2 books, but I did not manage to take any photos. We mostly did some of the activities in the book. The Big Green Pocketbook was a definite favorite, and she drew a nice picture of a girl with a green pocketbook.
Because I have only half of the BFIAR books, I plan on going through each of them a second time later in the year. I am not using BFIAR as my main curriculum, so I’m only doing some of the activities this time around. The second part of the school year, I’ll probably catch up on the activities I missed and also do some of the activities I’ve pinned on my BFIAR Pinterest board!

Autumn activities--Examining leaves and leaf rubbing:
Isaac made her this play set on animals getting ready for winter (hibernation, migration, foraging):
Street Safety—We had a lot of fun with this. It was nice learning the road signs (I got these at Target), but as one of my British friends pointed out, these are different signs than what my kids would see here in England. Oh well. If they only had a Target here, maybe I could find British road sign cards. She really liked playing with the road puzzle and cars. At least the road puzzle is British (note the round-about).
My Birthday Girl—5 years old!
I’m linking this post to “Preschool & Kindergarten Corner” at Homeschool Creations.
You have had a busy few weeks - I really like the road set you are using. We have a similar problem with road signs where I live but travel enough on the roads that she can learn our ones on a field trip. The letter activities are cute. Happy birthday to your little girl!
