This was a week with no real theme; however, I’m planning lots of Valentine stuff for next week!
1. Felt Weather Bear
2. Wash & String
3. Clothespins—I need to find other things for her to clip these to. They wouldn’t work on the basket itself, so I grabbed a ruler. She’s quite good at this, so I need to make some cards or something she can match things using clothespins…something more challenging.
4. My “Building Snowmen” sensory tub for, um, January…I made it a few days before January ended, but oh well. You can read more about this tub HERE. I did create it myself, and I was happy Gabriela liked this one. It wasn’t as “sensory” as my other tubs, but it gave her something constructive to do. She built the snowmen and also collected the confetti snowflakes.
5. Snowman Playdough—We did this last week, but Gabriela wanted to do it again. She so enjoyed creating snow people out of the dough, that she didn’t want to do anything else with it. At first, I built the snowman for her and let her do the decorating. She chose the eyes, nose, mouth, and hats by herself from the supplies I gave her. After a few days she built the entire snowman all by herself. The last snowman photo here shows the one she did without my assistance. I found this idea at Jada Roo Can Do.
6. Thomas the Tank Engine--I can’t believe how Gabriela has taken up with Thomas the past few weeks. Not only does she beg for the DVDs we have, but she’s also been playing with Isaac’s Thomas train set (which he’s outgrown). I’m having so much fun setting up train tracks again. I thought those days were over!
7. This is a Su-Dog-U (Sudoku) game I found at a charity shop some time ago. Though the game itself is too complicated for her, I thought she would enjoy putting the dog magnets on the grid. She enjoyed it so much, that she and Moriah were fighting over it later.
8. Montessori handkerchief-folding—The book suggests drawing fold lines with a permanent marker, but I couldn’t bring myself to do that! Instead, I ironed them folded, so that Gabriela could see the fold line. This was her first experience with folding, and she did fairly well.
9. Bottlecap Name—A repeat from last week.
10. A puzzle book—She’s getting better at these!
11. Imaginary Play—These chairs in our kitchen currently are being used for Gabriela’s “house.” She loves to go in the kitchen, sometimes with a stuffed animal or toy telephone, and pretend she’s in her house. I love listening to her talk while she plays and imagines!
12. Field Trip to Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry

She did an awesome job folding those hankies! Looks like you had a super fun week!
