Volcano Lapbook

Isaac did this lapbook for science awhile ago--I'm just way behind on posting!
Photobucket
We got our lapbook booklets from homeschoolshare. Here's another link we used, also homeschoolshare but different booklets. Isaac designed his own cover (looks like I forgot to check his spelling!).

2. Find and label Hammerfest, the northernmost city in Europe.
3. Label the following seas: North Sea, Norwegian Sea, Barents Sea
4. Label the Skagerrak Strait.
5. Label the Arctic Circle and draw a line to show where it starts.
6. Find and label Norway’s highest mountain Galdhøpiggen.
7. Lightly color the seas light blue and Norway yellow.

different color.

My Latest Bargain Finds

People in England don't really have yard sales, so I make do with charity shops. A few weeks ago, however, I went to a church rummage sale (well, they call it a table-top sale--it was a fund-raiser for charity) and found loads of bargains for less than £10. Isaac and Moriah took their spare change with them and found lots of goodies, too! They really enjoyed spending their money because most of the toys were between 10p and £1. I told Isaac not to buy anything before asking me; however, he forgot...and ended up with a large, mean-looking remote-control T-Rex! I don't know--my first impressions weren't so good, but it is sort of cool, and he loves it! (Sorry I don't have a pic). Here are some of the things I found:

These come apart, and you can mix-match the pieces:

Gabriela loves ballet and was very pleased with this tutu:

A hot water bottle is a "must have" in England--I mean, everyone has one. I've been here 5 years without one, so I bought this one cheap--hopefully it's in good condition. Can anyone tell me how to use the thing?
Bargain

Gabriela loves Maisy! This is her first Maisy book.

Doodle design set--Moriah bought this:
Bargain

I have a copy of this book in storage back in America (it was too heavy to bring back), and I need it soon for Moriah's Kindergarten, so I was extremely pleased to find this one at only 20p (the one I have in the US was quite expensive).
Bargain

Cloth globe. I love this thing. I meant to use it for geography, but Gabriela likes to sit on it, roll around on it with her belly, pick it up with her feet, etc. I used it for a pillow when I was doing my floor exercises. It's a very multi-purpose globe!
Bargain

I've not worked out whether this dress is Japanese or Chinese (if that), but Moriah loves to dress up, so I got it for her.
Bargain

Perfect timing, this...Isaac is just beginning to study the solar system in science. He's very excited about using it. And guess what! Not only was it super-cheap, but it was still new in its wrapper!!!
Bargain

Here are some charity shop bargains I found back in February--I just never got around to posting them:

Bear puppet
supplies

Silver tray for Tot School sorting
supplies

Wooden bowls--also for Tot school use
supplies

There were some other goodies, too, but I can't seem to find my pictures of them. I may have to add to this post later!

Tot School--May

Tot School

Here's what Gabriela has been doing in Tot School this past month.
We didn't do as much as usual for a few reasons. 1) We had a special visitor. Grandma came to visit us all the way from America! 2) Gabriela is going through a stage...she isn't wanting to sit still to do anything here lately! I need to find some time to come up with some new Tot School activities I think.

1. Play school set
Tot School

2. She begs for play-doh now!

3. Stacking cubes

4. Another rare WARM day in England (she loves playing with baby dolls)
Tot School
She also love playing with toy cars!

5. Airport set I got at a church rummage sale (she really has a thing for airplanes right now--she spots them in the sky every time--I'm wondering what she'll think of our airplane trip back to the US next month!)
Bargain

6. Alphabet match alligator--another church rummage sale find! She's a bit too young to start matching big and little letters, but she enjoyed taking the little cloth letters in and out of the pockets.

7. I can't resist including these pictures!

Tot School--April

Tot School

I can't believe how long it's been since I've posted what we've done in Tot School! I think Easter was the last time. I think I'll do this in 2 separate posts--1 for April and 1 for May. So....this is NOT what we did last week.

1. First try at the memory game.
Tot School

2. She got this color pencil set when she went for her 2 1/2 year growth and development assessment at a children's centre. She loves to open and close it and fit in all the pencils.

3. Connect 4--Just practice putting the checkers in the slots.

4. I found this Fantacolor Jr. set at a charity shop for really cheap! It's very similar to the button board she got for her last birthday.

I've been asked several times where I got Gabriela's Button Board, pictured here:

As far as I know it is exclusive to ELC (Early Learning Centre) only in the UK, but the Fantacolor Jr. is available in the US. I know you can get it from Timberdoodle.

5. Outdoor play on a rare warm day.

6. Farm set. I love how she tried to stack the cows in the first picture. She actually got 3 of them up, but I didn't get the picture taken before they fell over.

15. I love dressing my kids in costumes. We go to a lot of places where they have old-fashioned clothes for kids to dress up in--we've been doing this since Isaac was born. This particular place was a Tudor house, and doesn't Gabriela look sweet in Tudor clothing? Unfortunately, this time didn't end up so well. About a week later (and we really didn't go anywhere the rest of the week), Gabriela ended up with head lice. I guess I'm going to have to be much more careful in the future about putting my kids in hats that dozens of other children have tried on!

16. She loves this rabbit thing.
