Kindergarten Moments--Christmas through March 2010

Photobucket

We use Little Hearts for His Glory from Heart of Dakota for kindergarten. Here's what Moriah has been doing since Christmas!

1. Starting with Christmas...here's Moriah with a few of her presents:

2. Trip to Netherlands
I covered this earlier on a field trip post, but we went to Holland over the New Year. Moriah got to see windmills, visit the Corrie ten Boom house, light sparklers and eat oliebollen on New Year's Eve, and go ice skating (which she did enjoy after she got used to it!). Her favorite thing about Holland, however, was playing with her Dutch friend Raphaela!

What's On Our Book Rack? Springtime Reading

I finally got around to changing the books on our book rack. I really don't have any Easter books here in England (they're all in storage in Missouri). I do have one tiny book about the Resurrection of Jesus, and the rest of these are spring-themed books.

Also in our book rack right now (but not available for the Amazon carousel) are:
Bella's Secret Garden by Anne Carter (a rabbit story)
Happy Easter! by Sarah Mayers and Helen Gale (Scripture Union, pub.)
Puddle Wonderful: Poems to Welcome Spring selected by Bobbi Katz
Let's Look at Seasons: Springtime by Ann Schweninger
When the Wind Blows by Amy and Richard Hutchings
Spring Changes by Ellen B. Senisi
Weather by Melissa Getzoff

Tot School: Week 20

Tot School

Ahhh, this week's tot school post is much shorter than last week's! Anyway, here's what Gabriela was up to this past week (aside from begging constantly to watch "Maisy" videos):

1. She loves doing ballet! When I put her in this outfit, she looked down at her stripey stockings and said, "Ballet!" When we went downstairs, she promptly brought me the ballet DVD.

2. Maisy coloring. This girl is Maisy-crazy (rhyme not intended but sounds cool)! We have 3 Maisy videos, and she would watch them all day if I would let her. The begging starts first thing, so to get her into "school" mode, I quickly looked up a Maisy color sheet on the internet and printed it off. You can find loads of them at Maisy's Fun Club.

If you're not familiar with Maisy (she's from England but popular worldwide), here's a video: (Unlike this clip, our videos have British accents!)

3. Spooning green deco pebbles (green for St. Pat's Day of course)
Tot school

As you can see, she eventually found dumping easier (or more fun) than spooning!

4. Bear counters. We worked on sorting by color and size, and we made families of bears (discussing big, medium, and small).

6. Bingo dabber art for St. Patrick's Day. These came from DLTK.

7. Coloring the Letter G. We didn't do very much with the letter G this week, so we'll work on it more later. She is doing very well remembering the letters she's learned so far! She didn't spend too much time coloring this; instead, she decided to draw spiders!

I just had to include these daffodil pictures since it's spring now! Greg has been taking an annual (March) picture of the girls with a daffodil since Moriah was a baby. Here's Gabriela's yearly daffodil pictures:
